15 Ball Pool Rules: A Complete Guide for Beginners

Every game has rules. Rules make the game fair and fun. Think of rules like the instructions for a board game — they tell you what you can and cannot do.

Here are the rules of 15 ball pool, explained in the simplest way possible.

Rule 1: Take Turns

You and your opponent take turns. On your turn, you get to shoot the white ball one time. If you make a ball go into a pocket, you get to shoot again! If you miss, it becomes the other player's turn.

Think of it like this: Imagine you and your friend are taking turns throwing a ball into a basket. If you score, you get another try. If you miss, your friend gets a turn.

Rule 2: Pocketing Balls

When your white ball hits a colored ball and that colored ball falls into a pocket, that's called pocketing. Good job! You keep your turn.

But you have to hit your own group of balls first. The computer will tell you which group is yours — solids (1–7) or stripes (9–15).

Rule 3: The 8-Ball (Black Ball)

The black ball with number 8 is special. You can only pocket it after you have pocketed ALL your other balls first. If the 8-ball goes in too early, you lose!
